Simply put, psychotherapy is having a person to speak with for emotional support. Psychotherapy can also provide empirical treatment for depression, anxiety, and a variety of other mental health diagnoses.
Although we use evidence-based practices, high value is placed on a tailored, client-centered plan. A specific approach to treatment varies from patient to patient, however, our clinicians are trained in cognitive-behavioral, psychodynamic, interpersonal, dialectical-behavioral, family systems, and mindfulness techniques.
The practice offers psychological evaluation services for all ages. Assessments typically include standardized measures of personality, mood, behavior, education/achievement, and cognitive/intellectual functioning. We can provide assessments for a number of reasons, including but not limited to:

Marriage and couples counseling can help improve communication and understanding within relationships. Counseling can be an effective tool when couples argue without resolution, feel disconnected, struggle with intimacy, or want to rebuild trust.
Couples counseling provides a number of communication techniques, in addition to insight and education of effective and ineffective communication patterns.
Psychotherapeutic addictions treatment includes a balance of support, goal-setting, education, and relapse-prevention. Self-awareness and improving coping strategies are critical elements of addictions treatment.
In addition to individualized treatment, if referrals are needed, we work closely with a variety of inpatient, outpatient, and community support networks.

Family therapy focuses on relationship skills training and provides insight about communication styles. When family conflict is managed successfully, relationship dynamics can become stronger.
Group therapy can be a powerful coping resource. In group therapy, individuals build social skills, improve communication, and get emotional support. The practice offers a variety of therapy groups. Current groups offered are:

Those who have been thru a long recovery from COVID can experience a feeling of isolation because of the risk of infection to family and friends. There may be lingering symptoms. Support groups allow people living with or recovering from the disease, to share information and experiences. Call (301) 233-5021 to join our group, COVID Survivors, for a better tomorrow.
