Individual Psychotherapy

Simply put, psychotherapy is having a person to speak with for emotional support. Psychotherapy can also provide empirical treatment for depression, anxiety, and a variety of other mental health diagnoses.

Although we use evidence-based practices, high value is placed on a tailored, client-centered plan. A specific approach to treatment varies from patient to patient, however, our clinicians are trained in cognitive-behavioral, psychodynamic, interpersonal, dialectical-behavioral, family systems, and mindfulness techniques.

Marital/Couples Counseling

Marriage and couples counseling can help improve communication and understanding within relationships. Counseling can be an effective tool when couples argue without resolution, feel disconnected, struggle with intimacy, or want to rebuild trust.

Couples counseling provides a number of communication techniques, in addition to insight and education of effective and ineffective communication patterns.

Addictions Counseling

Psychotherapeutic addictions treatment includes a balance of support, goal-setting, education, and relapse-prevention. Self-awareness and improving coping strategies are critical elements of addictions treatment.

Family Therapy

The main goal in this therapeutic approach is to reorient expectations and roles within a family. Family therapy uses a safe environment to facilitate clear communication for all family members.

Family therapy focuses on relationship skills training and provides insight about communication styles. When family conflict is managed successfully, relationship dynamics can become stronger.

Group Therapy

Group therapy can be a powerful coping resource. In group therapy, individuals build social skills, improve communication, and get emotional support. The practice offers a variety of therapy groups. Current groups offered are:

COVID Survivor Support Group

No survivor is an island. A life-threatening illness and its treatment are potentially traumatic events. Patients are confronted with their own mortality or their loved ones' mortality, and this can elicit fear. Those who have been thru a long recovery from COVID can experience a feeling of isolation because of the risk of infection to family and friends. There may be lingering symptoms. Support groups allow people living with or recovering from the disease, to share information and experiences. Call (301) 233-5021 to join our group, COVID Survivors, for a better tomorrow. Remember, you are not alone.
