Xavier Bonilla, Psy.D.

I earned my Doctorate of Psychology (PsyD) in Clinical Psychology from the American School of Professional Psychology in Washington, DC, and hold a Master of Arts in Counseling from Capital Bible Seminary as well as a Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology from ASPP. I am a Licensed Clinical Psychologist in Maryland and am authorized to practice across participating states through PSYPACT. I am also credentialed with the National Register of Health Service Psychologists and am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Maryland, Washington, DC, and Virginia.

I bring over 20 years of experience in the mental health field, with clinical work spanning inpatient, medical outpatient, and private practice settings. My work includes individual and group psychotherapy, as well as comprehensive psychological, psychoeducational, and neuropsychological assessments for adults and adolescents. I also provide clinical supervision to counseling and psychology trainees and have served as an adjunct professor at The George Washington University for seven years, teaching graduate-level courses in diagnosis and treatment planning, assessment, social and cultural foundations, and advanced internship.

My clinical experience includes working with mood and psychotic disorders, depression, anxiety, substance use concerns, grief and loss, relationship issues, and LGBTQ clients. My therapeutic approach is integrative and psychodynamic, grounded in collaboration and advocacy for each client’s unique needs. I view clients through a developmental lens, exploring how past experiences influence current patterns, while drawing from a range of evidence-based techniques to provide individualized, effective care.
