Stephanie Yee, Ph.D.

Welcome! I am a licensed psychologist dedicated to helping individuals understand themselves more deeply and discover the tools they need to move through life with greater ease and fulfillment. I work especially well with people who are curious, reflective, and motivated to explore their thoughts, feelings, and relational patterns. I believe that developing insight into who we are—and how we relate to others—is an essential first step toward meaningful change and a reduction in psychological distress.

I have had the opportunity to work in a wide range of clinical settings, including a community clinic, a hospital, and a college counseling center. My training is rooted in psychodynamic theory, and I frequently integrate CBT and DBT techniques to offer practical strategies when they are helpful. I consider myself a culturally sensitive, insight-oriented therapist who uses an integrative approach and tailors each intervention to the unique needs of the individual sitting across from me. My therapeutic style is open and collaborative, creating space for us to determine together what feels most effective and supportive for you.

Clients and colleagues often describe me as energetic, empathic, and sincere. My clinical focus includes working with mood disorders, trauma, borderline personality disorder, multicultural identity, and relationship challenges. I also have special interests in family-of-origin work, identity exploration, LGBTQ+ concerns, and trauma-informed care. In addition to my clinical practice, I teach multicultural psychology at the University of Maryland, College Park, which deepens my commitment to culturally informed and socially aware clinical work.

Above all, I aim to provide a therapeutic environment where you feel understood, empowered, and supported as you move toward meaningful growth and emotional well-being.
