Shoshana Cook, LMSW

I specialize in working with individuals navigating the lasting impacts of complex trauma. I earned my Master’s in Social Work from the University of Maryland and my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Arizona. My therapeutic approach is grounded in compassion, curiosity, and a deep respect for each person’s unique journey. I strive to create a safe, non-judgmental space where healing feels possible and therapy is tailored to your specific needs and goals.

I believe that our bodies and nervous systems carry the imprint of past experiences, and I work collaboratively with clients to explore the mind-body connection. My style is client-centered and trauma-informed, meaning I meet you where you are and follow your lead in terms of pace and focus. I draw from a variety of evidence-based modalities—because what helps one person may not resonate for another, and your insight into what feels helpful is invaluable. My clinical experience includes working with adolescents and adults in a range of settings, such as residential treatment centers, day programs, assisted living facilities, and private practice. I support clients struggling with trauma, depression, anxiety, OCD, eating disorders, insecure attachment styles, self-harm, addiction, and other emotional or behavioral challenges.

I primarily use Internal Family Systems (IFS or Parts Work), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), often incorporating a psychodynamic lens. I may also integrate elements of polyvagal theory, executive functioning skills, grounding techniques, and expressive arts, depending on your preferences and needs. At the core of my work is a strengths-based approach: I want to get to know you—not just your struggles, but your values, hopes, and strengths. Healing can be difficult, but I believe in your capacity to grow, heal, and thrive. If this sounds like a good fit for you, I’d be honored to walk alongside you on your path. Please feel free to reach out—I look forward to connecting.
