Mia Yau, LMSW

I am a dedicated clinical social worker passionate about helping individuals navigate life’s most challenging moments. I specialize in supporting clients as they manage anxiety, depression, relationship issues, low self-esteem, and the lasting impact of trauma. My approach is warm and collaborative—I strive to create a safe, supportive space where clients can gain clarity, build resilience, and experience meaningful, lasting change.

My work is rooted in a client-centered philosophy and draws from evidence-based practices such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), trauma-informed care, and solution-focused interventions. I tailor each session to meet the unique needs of the individual, helping clients deepen self-awareness, build practical coping skills, and move toward their personal goals.

I work with people across the lifespan, including children, adolescents, adults, and older adults. My clinical experience includes addressing a wide range of concerns such as ADHD, daily stressors, relationship challenges, and severe mental health conditions. Regardless of the issue, my goal is to help each client feel supported, empowered, and capable of creating positive change.

I earned my Master of Social Work degree from the University of Baltimore, with a focus in Clinical Social Work. Before graduate school, I spent four years working in various mental health settings, gaining valuable experience with diverse populations and a range of challenges.

I’m deeply committed to the power of the therapeutic process and believe that, while change can be difficult, with the right support, anyone can move toward a more balanced and fulfilling life.
